BRAZILIAN NATIONAL PROGRAM OF GENOMIC AND PRECISION HEALTH
GENOMAS BRASIL

Institutionalized through Decree nº 1.949/GM/MS, on August 4th of 2020, Genomas Brasil is a science, technology and innovation program, coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology, of the Secretariat of Science, Technology, Innovation and Strategic Input in Health, from the Ministry of Health (Decit/SCTIE/MS), that aims to overcome structural limitations found in the country to allow the implementation of precision and personalized medicine in the Unified Health Service (SUS).
The specific objectives of Genomas Brasil are:

  • strengthen the field of science and technology in precision and personalized medicine in the country;

  • establish a pilot research project to assess the feasibility of implementing a line of care based on genomics in the SUS;

  • stimulate and strengthen the development of the national industry in the area of precision and personalized medicine.
